Junkyard Gem: 2000 Hyundai Elantra GLS Wagon

The station wagon’s final period of true mainstream sales relevance in North America took place during the 1990s, though the minivan and SUV had long since been shoving the wagon aside by that point. Peak Wagon — measured by the number of new wagon models available here — occurred in either 1964 or 1977, when […] July 17, 2022 at 01:45AM

Junkyard Gem: 2006 Dodge Magnum SE

It’s no easy task to determine the year of the very first Dodge station wagon, because the wagonlike vehicles of the Dodge Brothers’ early years were “screensides” based on truck chassis and the sedan deliveries of the 1930s weren’t made as family haulers (though the truck-based Dodge woodie wagons of the middle 1930s seem to […] April 11, 2022 at 01:26AM

Audi is recalling nearly 46,000 cars to address inaccurate fuel readings brought on by faulty sensors in their gas tanks. Audi A6 Avant E-Tron concept wants to make you lust after wagons again

Audi previewed the electric version of the next-generation A6 by unveiling the sedan as an eye-catching, close-to-production concept in April 2021. It’s only half of the family: The second part is the Avant station wagon, which the firm just introduced as a sporty-looking design study. Up front, only a small handful of styling cues differentiate […] March 17, 2022 at 04:31AM

Audi, Porsche recall 32,000 vehicles for misaligned rear axles

Audi and Porsche are recalling more than 32,000 sedans, coupes and SUVs from the 2020 and 2021 model years to address a rear axle alignment issue that may have been introduced by a previous defect-related repair.  This campaign covers at least a few of virtually every Audi vehicle manufactured in 2021, 2020 and in the […] February 07, 2022 at 08:48PM

Junkyard Gem: 1990 Toyota Corolla All-Trac Wagon

American Motors began selling cars that could be driven in four-wheel-drive all the time (even on dry pavement) in the 1980 model year, and Audi followed up with the Quattro system during the following year. Those cars had true all-wheel-drive powertrains (the AWD term didn’t come into widespread use until much later), but Toyota didn’t […] January 10, 2022 at 06:20AM

Junkyard Gem: 1981 VW Dasher Diesel Wagon

The very first water-cooled Volkswagen sold in the United States, after a quarter-century of exclusively air-cooled vehicles shipped over from Wolfsburg, was the 1974 Dasher (the Rabbit aka Golf didn’t show up here until the 1975 model year). Known as the Passat elsewhere in the world and sibling to the Audi Fox aka 80 (not […] November 07, 2021 at 10:30PM

Editors’ Picks June 2021 | Hyundai Tucson, Kia Sorento, McLaren 720S and more

A mix of crossovers and family cars were awarded Editors’ Picks status this month. Plus, we got into a Porsche and a McLaren that share in the accolades. We finally spent some quality time in the Kia Carnival, too, which was the only minivan missing from our minivan-heavy month of Editors’ Picks back in March. […] July 10, 2021 at 07:21AM

1999-2007 Ford Focus | Used Automobile Highlight

The 1999 Ford Focus was a little bit of an odd duck. Whereas it proudly wore an American producer’s badge and was assembled in Wayne, Michigan, for the U.S. market, it was primarily a product of Ford’s European arm, the place it wanted to compete with the likes of the Volkswagen Golf and different established […] June 02, 2021 at 07:04AM
